WELCOME TO OPENS

OPENS Program is the bridge between Saturday Juniors and the Senior Competition. Games are played under the same rules as the Seniors focusing on competitive play whilst introducing structure and discipline.

We play by the shot clock forcing teams to play with a competitive edge. Players and coaches will develop in a tense environment playing an uptempo style of game making crucial decisions very different than holding the ball slowing the game down.

Players will continue to Learn all fundamental and basic basketball-specific skills. Our focus is still more skill based at these age's allowing players to implement what they have been taught in trainings to make decisions in games. We try not to micro manage players at this early phase of learning and game play. At coaches discretion and the level of athletes skills and game IQ teams will be taught the basic prerequisites to making reads in games.

The purpose of play is to cultivate a positive experience for players and teams focused on skills development, communication, fun, team work, building healthy minds and relationships with team mates and coaching staff.

We strive to encourage players to make good choices through positive playing experience. Every season is targeted to players bettering themselves as people preparing them for life, for a future on or off the court.

Packed with a lot FUN, OPENS program gives children, parents and families a safe space to meet all year round playing basketball. Playing a sport helps young kids find themselves, the game allows us to support players in tough situations on and off the court. Basketball is a perfect place for kids to explore and learn ways to deal with challenges teaching them resilience and how to bounce back from losses, and that it's okay to make mistakes.
We have changed many lives through coaching and mentoring and through OPENS Program we will see our players through to the end of each game, each championship and life. Our emphasis is on our members having fun, learning to be part of a team in a great sport and having confidence to achieve anything they want in life.

OPENS has 2 full competition seasons per year and each season is 2 terms of school.

Basketball is the fastest growing sport in the world and Australia, it is wonderful everyone can play all year round. We are truly blessed to be building a community basketball family. These memories will last a lifetime for Pioneers!

To help your child ease into the OPENS group our friendly coaches are motivators who love to inspire. All our coaches will be leading every team hold themselves to our associations STAR standards spreading their infectious energy with a nurturing personality.
